Leveraging Technology to Bring Equality and Sustainability
Springboard Connectivity was founded on the realization that there is a huge gap between developed and under developed countries in terms of access to computers, internet connection and electricity. This offers a disadvantage to underdeveloped societies becuase they are at risk from having to cook over a fire and they don’t have computer literacy so they cannot learn as much and have limited job opportunities. They also do not have lights in their homes, so at night, they are limited on what they can do. For example, being on Zoom, they cannot show their faces at night.
Springboard Connectivity is committed to closing that gap by equipping individuals, non-profits and education centers with Wi-Fi, laptops, solar electricity, projectors and solar ovens and stoves.
From Moses Owino in Kisumu, Kenya: “About the laptop: it has been very important to us; we’ve used it to teach my niece and a few kids from the neighbourhood some basic computer skills. My brother also used it for coaching kids chase games with a projector, as well as for showing documentaries and projecting Bible verses at church.”
